The lessons of Brit-exit.

The era collective security, collective wellbeing that started right after the end of the first world war the failed to guarantee the security collective anything was followed by the second world war in whose aftermath was born the United Nations and the continental unions that was epitomized by European union after the end of the cold war. The European Union with all the pitfalls and turmoil, up bits and and tangible success stories at least for a while seem an experiment in the future of humanity living in a socioeconomic and and culturally defined boundaries which are otherwise bounded only by natural barriers, the natural boundaries that defined continents. At least for a short while humanity seemed moving in the direction of free movement, free trade, and free choice of domicile. The individual seemed on the move to where he would be a free agent to sell his labor to whomever was willing to pay him despite which small locality he was born and raised, what mattered seemed his ability and unique endowed him talent that fitted the needs. Talent and skills seemed on the march to meet fine and refined demands and needs in a wider and broader scale enabling unexploited human capabilities that benefited and could benefit all of humanity to the a bigger and wider scale that would otherwise remain in the dark in the dark corners of a bounded this or that territory. Small and frail local and national business get the continental and beyond exposures reaping better and bigger returns on their labor and intellectual and physical. While cyber Global citizenship has already been ushered in the advent of the internet and all the rest of the virtues of the cyber-world the physical world remained a drag on this fast forward moving reality, that at one point the collusion would have been expected and perhaps that is manifested in some ways in the Brit exit movement, the poll and the result. It is my understanding that the 2016 Brit exit movement and vote result will generate volumes of work in the years to come by academics, politicians, journalists and money others as what has already been generated indicates for it is a reversal in a movement and a trajectory and mindset with broader lasting effects not limited to the UK and Europe but to the world at large.

The fact that on the opposite side of the Atlantic a political campaign is wedged in the format and content makes it already of Global importance and significance and if another of like victory is achieved the possible transatlantic alliances makes the significance even larger by that much; which makes a through understand if possible and a reasonable grasp at the least to turn around the mirror and look what we all look like inside it profoundly important.

The Brit Exiter’s campaign was a campaign wedged on the fear of the unknown, the “unknown” that is known enough that whole world including the British themselves can can positively testify that this unknown is not known for anything, but for having done the world overwhelmingly good with minimal proper handling. This unknown is the immigrant next door and the one at the border who is looking yet to come in. Yes; there are monsters among them as there are among us, there could possibly be psychopaths among them as there are among us and all ills of humanity that pervades among us do amongst them, but these are all fears that we carry with them in or with them out. Like all adventures of human endeavors’ and ventures there are payments to be made and prizes to be gained and there are some who understood exactly that those immigrants all or overwhelming majority of them are not coming to eat from any one’s plate, but coming to the table with their own plates given the proper handling and the opportunity and that have been proven time and again. This would have been the one fundamental truth that is not as hidden as it looks and would and should have eased the anxiety of the Brit Exiter’s, but didn’t. Why?

Looking at it from what have been said and done during the campaign, prior to the campaign and post campaign the simplicities and plainness of the rhetoric is appealing as all simplicities are, but almost everything in nature and nature itself are intricate complex and intertwined. It is revealing to read some of the statistics of the poll and results to uncover some of the complex interplays of some of the moving parts and wonder if there is a comparative relevance here.

People often pay special attention to matters of the pocket even more than matters of the heart increasingly in time and we are all living testaments to that. To the Exiter’s the warning and repeat appeal by the overwhelming majority of the British economists, academics, forums, opinion makers, polls and pundits that the exit will for sure pinch them in their pockets simply fell on deaf ears in unprecedented defiance of professional opinion and professionalism itself. Perhaps this is telling that professional opinion more than any time in history is considered a commodity that is bought and sold by the highest bidder in an auction house(media) that it is worth the money paid for to the buyer and are not to be taken at face value. That the thrust between the professional as expressed in the media and the common man, or nonprofessional is breached and professionalism is a collateral victim as vulgar raw barbaric self-expressions and expressions of others in the main stream media are taken as acceptable fads as though refinements and edge smoothing’s are not the trademarks of civilization.it is pity that professionalism to see injured in such a way to such a degree though the wound is partially self-inflicted.

Age matters to use the fad and jargon of the time, in a poll of June 23, 2016 when people aged 60 and over forced an exit vote majority, at a poll 70% of the people aged 18 to 24 voted remain, it is obvious that age matters. Traditionally at the times where and where traditional family and transgenerational relations were made people rarely reached the age of 60 leave alone live pass it, today 60 is just the begging of yet another 30 or 20 years ahead perhaps in the coming years even more. Then a person of 60 will have not too many years to deal with a 30 year in common that he cares less for himself as to what happens tomorrow or after that was the worry left for and by 30 years, and theirs was a worry for them than themselves. today 20 or 30 years in to the future are not simply for the 30 year or by the 30-year-old. The Grady’s and Granny’s are here to share it and are claiming the stakes are high for them and that is clearly demonstrated by the Brit-exiters overwhelming vote to exit. Yet in some ways the conflict seems perhaps it is a conflict between a world made yesterday and a world to be made tomorrow. Taken by all measures tomorrow favors the young than the grannies and grandees that whatever tomorrow brings their share is limited or nonexistent. The preservation of the pi that was made with in the confinements and bounds of yesterday and the desire to make a pi of tomorrow in the unbounded largescale free space of tomorrow the optimism and hope of the times to come and the nostalgia and the past glory of the world gone by are at odds and demographics and depth of pocket were at work and had shown who is yet in control.
